Regime Change, Trump Style

There is within the Republican party a growing rank of neo-isolationists that view any sort of foreign intervention as bad. Most of this stems from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars that resulted in a lot of blood and treasure lost with very little payoff. But those were poorly managed wars and not Trump's style of regime change. Dinesh D'Souza makes an excellent case for regime change in his opening monologue if done correctly, for which he gives plenty of examples.

Zohran Mamdani, a herald of things to come?

Republicans are freaking out that Democrats Zohran Mamdani of New York City, Abigail Spanberger of Virginia, and Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey won big. Do the Democrats winning these cities and states herald a looming disaster for the Republicans in the 2026 midterms? The Dems and the media will spin it that way, but I don't think it does. These are places Republicans were not likely to win anyway, especially in NYC and Virginia. One of the things that helped Zohran was that it was an off-year election, so fewer people showed up, and I suspect buyer's remorse will settle in quickly. Moreover, they are all places that Trump lost in 2024. The Democrat party was a regional power a year ago, and they remain a regional power today, and one in rapid decline. In less than 80 years, Islam expanded from the Arabian Peninsula to encompass nearly all the Middle and Near East and all of North Africa. On the 30th of April 711, Muslim troops under the command of Tariq ibn Ziyad crossed the Straights of Gibraltar and landed on mainland Europe for the first time. The invasion took everyone in Spain completely by surprise. Within 8 short years the Muslims had occupied most of Spain. As part of their subjugation, the Spanish were forced to hand over 100 white virgins a year to the Muslims be used in their harems. The first Muslim invasion of Sicily took place in 652 but failed, as did repeated attempts in 667 and 720. Between failed attempts and a civil war among the Muslims, it took them 70 years to finally succeed. After the fall of Sicily, they crossed into Southern Italy. Patriotism vs Nationalism and the "woke right".

The "woke right," and I don't particularly like that term, has been trying to redefine what it means to be America first. They have taken it to the extreme and have equated it with isolationism. That was never Trump's intention, nor was it ever the intention of the Founding Fathers. America first was never meant to be America only. America has always engaged in foreign diplomacy and international cooperation. We have never been an island unto ourselves, and it's impossible in this day and age anyway. With modern technology, the world is much smaller than it used to be. What happens on the other side of the world can and does affect us. It is therefore sometimes in America's best interests to align with other nations. That does not mean we put their interests before ours; it only means that we have mutual interests that benefit both parties.
